Good to know

Dr. Virend Somers, a cardiologist from the Mayo Clinic who is lead author of the report in the July 29, 2008 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. Most heart attacks occur in the day, generally between 6 a.m. and noon, Somers said. Having one during the night, when the heart should be most at rest, means that something unusual happened, he said. Somers and his colleagues have been working for a decade to show that sleep apnea is to blame.
1. If you take an aspirin or a baby aspirin once a day, take it at night.

The reason: aspirin has a 24-hour "half-life". Therefore, if most heart attacks happen in the wee hours of the morning, the aspirin would be strongest in your system.

2. FYI, aspirin lasts a really long time in your medicine chest, years. (when it gets old, it smells like vinegar.)

Please read on. WHY ASPIRIN BY YOUR BED save lives... It is important to always have ASPIRIN in the home! Why have Aspirin by your bedside?

ABOUT HEART ATTACKS

There are other symptoms of an heart attack besides the pain on the left arm. One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea and lots of sweating, however these symptoms may also occur less frequently.

NOTE : There may be no pain in the chest during an heart attack. The majority of people (about 60%) who had an heart attack during their sleep, did not wake up. However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep.

If that happens, IMMEDIATELY DISSOLVE TWO ASPIRINS IN YOUR MOUTH and swallow them with a bit of water. Afterwards, phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by and state "HEART ATTACK!" and that you have taken 2 ASPIRINS. Take a seat on a chair or sofa and wait for their arrival and....

DO NOT LIE DOWN!

A Cardiologist has stated that, if each person, after receiving this e-mail, sends it to 10 people, probably a life can be saved! I have already shared the information! What about you?

IT MAY SAVE LIVES!

Breakfast - Heart Attack

For those who always skip breakfast, drink at least a glass of orange juice.stay healthy! :)

You've heard many times that "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." Now, recent research confirms that one of the worst practices you can develop may be avoiding breakfast. Why? Because the frequency of heart attack, sudden death, and stroke peaks between 6:00 a.m.and noon ,with the highest incidence being between 8:00a.m.and 10:00 a.m.What mechanism within the body could account for this significant jumpin sudden death in the early morning hours? We may have an answer.Platelets, tiny elements in the blood that keep us from bleeding to death if we geta cut, can clump together inside our arteries due to cholesterol orplaque buildup in the artery lining. It is in the morning hours that platelets become the most activated and tend to form these internal blood clots atthe greatest frequency.

However, eating even a very light breakfast prevents the morning platelet activation that is associated with heart attacks and strokes. Studies performed at MemorialUniversityin St.Johns,New foundlandfound that eating a light, very low-fat breakfast was critical in modifying themorning platelet activation. Subjects in the study consumed eitherlow-fat or fat-free yogurt, orange juice, fruit, and a source of protein coming from yogurt or fat-free milk).

So if you skip breakfast, it's important that you change this practice immediately in light of this research. Develop a simple plan to eat cereal, such as oatmeal or Bran Flakes, along with six ounces of grape juice or six ounces of orange juice, and perhaps a piece of fruit. This simple plan will keep your platelets from ticking together, keep blood clots from forming, and perhaps head off a potential heart attack or stroke.

Heart Attack Warning Signs
-->A heart attack is a frightening event, and you probably don't want to think about it. But, if you learn the signs of a heart attack and what steps to take, you can save a life–maybe your own.
What are the signs of a heart attack? Many people think a heart attack is sudden and intense, like a "movie" heart attack, where a person clutches his or her chest and falls over.

The truth is that many heart attacks start slowly, as a mild pain or discomfort. If you feel such a symptom, you may not be sure what's wrong. Your symptoms may even come and go. Even those who have had a heart attack may not recognize their symptoms, because the next attack can have entirely different ones.
Women may not think they're at risk of having a heart attack–but they are. Learn more about women and heart attack.
